Pittsburgh Pennsylvania is a town of change and resilience. It has been known as a steel town since the 1850s and many Americans still think of it as an industrial city. Today we have recovered economically from the 1970s and are now in the midst of a Renaissance as the city transitions from from a steel town to a center for high-tech innovation and green technology.
On Sept. 24-25, 2009 important industrial and emerging-market countries from around the world gathered at the Pittsburgh Summit because, according to President Barack Obama, the city would provide “both a beautiful backdrop and a powerful example for our work.” For each of the world leaders in attendance at the summit Duane Rieder had the distinct honor to create a steel bound book highlighting photographs of Pittsburgh’s rich historic past followed by more modern photographs taken he has taken over the past few years.
This book, originally given as a gift at the summit, is now available for you to purchase. Each has a hand engraved steel cover, reminiscent of the steel industry Pittsburgh was built on. You may choose leather or synthetic leather tipped pages and a name or message may be engraved on the front (font sizes can vary). Books with synthetic leather are $500 and books with leather are $750. Since each book is custom made for you please expect 2-4 weeks for delivery.
